Employees to resume protests as govt fails to fulfil promise

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar August 17Having returned to their duties after an assurance from the state government protesting employees of the different departments are again getting ready to resume their protests from August 20. Leader of the employees union said they had joined back at work as the government had assured to provide a solution till August 13. With no word from the government after the assurance the employees would be staging district-level rallies and submit memorandums with the elected MLAs and MPs of the ruling party. The employees of various departments have been protesting after the sixth Punjab Pay Commission report was announced. They stated that with the new pay panel report their salaries would actually decrease instead of getting any actual benefit.

Leader of the employees union said they had joined back at work as the government had assured to provide a solution till August 13. With no word from the government after the assurance the employees would be staging district-level rallies and submit memorandums with the elected MLAs and MPs of the ruling party. A leader Ashok Sharma said the next course of action would be made public after the district level rallies. He said the unions had believed in the assurance given by the state government and returned to their duties but the government had failed to keep up the promise. The employees of various departments have been protesting after the sixth Punjab Pay Commission report was announced. They stated that with the new pay panel report their salaries would actually decrease instead of getting any actual benefit.
