Firing over old enmity, 9 booked

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, April 22The Gharinda police have booked around nine persons for allegedly firing at two persons over old enmity. He alleged that Ravisher Singh and Amritpal Singh were armed with .315-bore rifles while Sukhdeep was having a .12 bore-rifle. He said yesterday when he along with Jastinder Singh had gone to meet nambardar Gurmej Singh at his residence. Dharambir Singh, the complainant, stated to the police that he runs a building and construction material shop.

Amritsar, April 22 The Gharinda police have booked around nine persons for allegedly firing at two persons over old enmity. The incident occurred last evening. The police have registered a case under Sections 307, 148 and 149, IPC, and Sections 25, 54 and 59 under the Arms Act against them. Among those booked include Karanbir Singh, Sukhmandeep Singh, Subhpreet Singh, Ravisher Singh, Amritpal Singh, all residents of Cheecha village, and their four unidentified accomplices. No arrest has been made so far. Dharambir Singh, the complainant, stated to the police that he runs a building and construction material shop. He said yesterday when he along with Jastinder Singh had gone to meet nambardar Gurmej Singh at his residence. However, he was not at his home and therefore they came back. He said when they were returning, several persons travelling in cars stopped in front of them. He said Sukhmandeep came out of a car and shouted that Dharambir should be taught a lesson for fighting with us during the recently held Assembly poll. He said he along with Jastinder ran from the spot to save himself while the accused fired several gun shots at them in order to kill them. He alleged that Ravisher Singh and Amritpal Singh were armed with .315-bore rifles while Sukhdeep was having a .12 bore-rifle. Nishan Davinder Singh, investigating officer, said the police have recovered around five shells from the spot and a case has been registered. He said raids were being conducted to arrest the suspects.
