Four members of Ajgar gang nabbed

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, April 28The CIA staff today claimed to have arrested four members of the notorious Ajgar gang, headed by Avtar Singh alias Ajgar, a resident of Tarn Taran. He was recently arrested by the Tarn Taran police. The DCP said Sahil Loharaka had come out of jail on bail while Anthony and Ravi Kumar were wanted in a couple of criminal cases. In 2016, Baljinder Singh’s son Shubham, along with his Sawan and Ravi, had killed Karandeep’s father Hardev Singh, a tavern owner. Among those arrested were identified as Jaspal Singh alias Mannu of Meera Kot Kalan, Sukhwinder Singh alias Sahil Loharaka of Loharka Kalan, Anil Kumar alias Anthony Thatha of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Majitha road, and Ravi Kumar of Sandhu Colony located on Majitha road.

Among those arrested were identified as Jaspal Singh alias Mannu of Meera Kot Kalan, Sukhwinder Singh alias Sahil Loharaka of Loharka Kalan, Anil Kumar alias Anthony Thatha of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Majitha road, and Ravi Kumar of Sandhu Colony located on Majitha road. They were arrested from near Mai Bhago Polytechnic yesterday evening, Though they were wanted in many criminal cases, the police arrested them in connection with a firing incident occurred on 88-feet road March 15. DCP (Investigations) Jagmohan Singh said, “On March 15, at around 10pm, Ajgar along with Baljinder Singh alias Kalu, his son Rohit, Sikander Shashi of Guru Ka Khuh, Tarn Taran, and six others had opened fire at another gangster, Palwinder Singh alias Pinda, of Nehru Colony and his accomplice Karandeep Singh of Sandhu Colony. Palwinder was also attacked with sharp edge weapons. He was severely injured. The DCP said Sahil Loharaka had come out of jail on bail while Anthony and Ravi Kumar were wanted in a couple of criminal cases. Jaspal Singh was earlier booked under the NDPS Act. In 2016, Baljinder Singh’s son Shubham, along with his Sawan and Ravi, had killed Karandeep’s father Hardev Singh, a tavern owner. The police have recovered the car which was used in the crime on March 15. The accused have been taken on police remand and efforts are on to recover the weapons. More criminal cases are likely to be solved during their interrogation, the DCP added.
