Amritsar, May 13 A gang of swindlers decamped with gold bangles of a woman in a dramatic manner. The victim, Rani Kataria, stated to the police that she stood upstairs when four persons, including three women, turned up in a white Swift car. They asked a car washer, Shivam, to call the owner of the house. Kataria said the women called her downstairs claiming they were her distant relatives, but she replied otherwise. When the accused insisted, she came down and an elderly woman hugged her tightly while introducing her daughter-in-law to her. After interacting with them for sometime, the victim told them that she still couldn’t recall who they were. Following this, the swindlers left. It was around 15 minutes later she realised that her gold bangles were missing. The police have lodged a case under Section 379-B of the IPC. The gang has been active in the city for the past couple of years. They have committed several crimes in the similar fashion. They target the elderly people to take their ornaments. People fall in their trap on seeing women with them, including an elderly one. They travel in a car to identify their target and commit the crime. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Jagmohan Singh said the accused would be arrested soon.
