A number of vehicles can be seen parked inside the complex. The foundation stone of the complex was laid in 2011 at Ranjit Avenue. The stadium is destined to provide world–class sports infrastructure to the players in the city. The multipurpose site plans to have a cricket ground, athletic track, football and lawn tennis grounds to promote the sports culture in the city. The land of the stadium is being used as parking space. Bikes and green vans for the door-to-door garbage collection system of the solid waste management project can be seen parked inside the complex. The Amritsar Improvement Trust has been assigned the task to construct the world-class stadium at 9,500 sq yards. Officials of the trust have been fighting a legal case over the claim of the property. As a result, the project is being delayed for the past many years. However, the authorities assured that the project will start soon as the land is lawfully owned by the Trust. The authorities also assured that in future, the land will neither be used as a parking lot nor as a dumping ground. Commenting on the entire system, Rajiv Sekhri, superintending engineer, Amritsar Improvement Trust, said, “The project will began soon. Temporary arrangement was made for the parking of vans. These will be removed and we will begin the construction work of the stadium.”
