AMRITSAR: Facing excommunication from the Panth, renowned Sikh historian and former director of Sikh History Research Board of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) H S Dilgeer , has warned of legal action against the high priests besides printing a new volume of Guru Granth Sahib."If the priests try to excommunicate me, I will prosecute them under 500 (defamation), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 295 (insulting religious feelings) and other sections of the IPC and CrPC," Dilgeer told TOI on Monday, adding he would take similar action against members of the committee which had declared him 'guilty' of objectionable content in his books.Dilgeer said the new volume of Guru Granth Sahib would be printed in a book form sans the controversial 'raag maala'. On June 16, Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh had stated that Dilgeer had been held guilty on the basis of report submitted by an 11-member sub-committee to probe the alleged objectionable content of his books.Narrating the background of the case, Dilgeer said in December 2016, the Sikh high priests had objected to three points in one of his videos in which he had said that there was no 'Gangu Brahmin', who was alleged to have got Mata Gujri-mother of 10th Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh-and younger Sahibzadas-two younger sons of the 10th Guru-arrested. He also mentioned there was no Moti Ram Mehra, who secretly fed the Guru's mother and sons milk in the Sirhind fort, and it was not Todar Mal who got them cremated as he had died in 1665. Dilgeer told that he had even quoted pages from from six major works of Sikh history which supported his thesis. He claimed that nine out of 11 members of the panel, which held him guilty were SGPC employees.
