Around Rs 5 lakh in cash was shifted to the main branch around 15 minutes before the incident. One of the armed men moved to the branch manager’s room and the other went to the cash counter. They said Rs 5 lakh in cash was shifted to the head office from the branch a few minutes before the incident. At the time of the incident, staff members of the all-woman branch were having lunch while the branch manager, Priyanka Gautam, had gone to the head office.

The accused locked the staff in the branch manager’s room before committing the crime. At the time of the incident, staff members of the all-woman branch were having lunch while the branch manager, Priyanka Gautam, had gone to the head office. There was no security guard deputed at the branch when the crime was committed. The entire incident was captured in CCTV cameras. The police initiated investigations to identify and arrest the accused. They had covered their faces while committing the crime. Around Rs 5 lakh in cash was shifted to the main branch around 15 minutes before the incident. According to information, two armed men entered the bank at around 2.15pm. One of the armed men moved to the branch manager’s room and the other went to the cash counter. The accused took the cash present at the counter. It has been learnt that the robbers also shouted at the cashier when they found less cash than their expectations. Thereafter, they fled the spot and threatened the staff and asked not to chase them. Thereafter, senior police officials reached the spot and started investigations. Chief manager BN Singh and senior manager Harish Sehdev said they received a call from the branch around 2.35 pm following which they informed the police. They said Rs 5 lakh in cash was shifted to the head office from the branch a few minutes before the incident. They said there was more cash in the branch but the robbers could not find it. The preliminary probe indicated that the accused had conducted a recee of the branch before committing the crime. They knew about the cash present in the bank. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (City-II), Lakhbir Singh, said the investigation was in progress on the basis of CCTV footage. He said the police were also looking into the CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas along with the possible route of the robbers.
