Amritsar, July 13 While alleging police inaction, the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) today threatened to hold an agitation outside the Division C police station on July 17. They alleged that the police authorities released the suspected women who were held in a theft case. Surinder Kumar, a dairy owner, said he had lodged a complaint with the Division C police regarding a theft of 400 gm of gold from his residence. He had suspected that the three women who used to work in his house as domestic help had committed the crime. A case was also registered with the police in this regard. He said the suspects were arrested by the police. However, they were released on the same day leading to resentment among the complainant and his family members. Surinder said he had kept the gold jewellery for the marriage of his daughter. Jagtar Singh Karampura of the RMPI said the police was deliberately shielding the accused. — TNS
