Reappoint sacked GMC workers: Union

Amritsar, July 20The employees union at Government Medical College (GMC) has requested the management to resume the services of eight contractual workers of the psychiatry unit who were sacked recently. Prem Chand, a union leader, said, “The sacked employees have worked here for long. Their services were terminated recently. Sources have told us that it was done just to save money.” He said it was wrong to leave the workers jobless. They said the services of the said employees were terminated just for cost cutting.

Sources have told us that it was done just to save money.” He said it was wrong to leave the workers jobless. “Instead of sacking them, the authorities concerned should investigate the reason behind the fund mismanagement,” he said. — TNS
