BRIEFLYATAL lab comes up at DPSAmritsar: A lab under the ATAL Innovation Mission of the NITI Ayog was launched at DPS here today. The book fair is organised in association with Federation of Indian Publishers to promote reading habits among people of all age groups. The lab gives students an opportunity to widen their horizons, concretise their ideas through planning, designing and projecting. According to Sandhu, same practice is being introduced by Punjabi University, Patiala, as its 125 students and teachers from would also be participating in the fair. He urged people to check the irresponsible dumping of garbage in and around their surroundings and participate in cleanliness drives.

TNS 10,000 saplings to be planted Amritsar: Amritsar: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamaldeep Singh Sangha kicked off a plantation drive near bus stand and City Centre here today. He said the administration, with the support of local bodies, would plant 10,000 saplings this season. "Saving the environment we live in is the utmost responsibility as a citizen and as a figure of authority. It needs public participation. People should know that global warming can be countered only by increasing the green wealth," he said while addressing officials and volunteers after planting saplings. TNS Students set to visit book fair Around 125 students and teachers from various departments of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) will participate in the 23rd Delhi book fair slated to be held from August 26 to September 3 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The India Trade Promotion Organisation will hold the fair. Vice-Chancellor (V-C) SK Sandhu said the university would bear the expenses of these visits to give exposure to students and teachers in the field of research and academics. "That apart from promoting literacy and reading habit, especially among youth, the fair will provide a vast panorama of books on a wide range of subjects," he said.
