Gas agency godown looted of Rs95,000 by armed robbers

This is the second such incident in the past one month in which a gas agency godown was robbed by armed looters. Rakesh Madaan, the owner of Alisha gas agency, said six persons with covered faces and armed with pistols entered the godown. Earlier, three armed persons with covered faces had looted the head cashier of the Gurmukh Bharat gas agency at the Gurudwar Satlani Sahib road at Ranike on August 25. Earlier, a shopkeeper was looted on gun point while a liquor vend was robbed for the third time.

Amritsar, September 13 In yet another robbery incident, six armed persons with covered faces looted Rs 95,000 from a gas agency godown in Rampura village, near Daburji. This is the second such incident in the past one month in which a gas agency godown was robbed by armed looters. Rakesh Madaan, the owner of Alisha gas agency, said six persons with covered faces and armed with pistols entered the godown. They took the eight employees of the agency in a corner on pistol point and uprooted the digital video recorder of the CCTV cameras. Later, they took away Rs 95,000 in cash from the cashier. Madaan said the accused were travelling in a white Maruti Suzuki Dezire car which was without a number plate. He alleged that such instances were being reported at regular intervals in the area. Earlier, a shopkeeper was looted on gun point while a liquor vend was robbed for the third time. He said they had approached the Chatiwind police to take appropriate measures to provide security in the area, but in vain. Senior police officials, including the SSP, Amritsar rural police, Parampal Singh, SP (D) Harpal Singh and DSP, Jandiala, Amandeep Kaur reached the spot and carried out investigations. Parampal Singh said the police had launched a manhunt to track down the suspects. It appears that the same gang was carrying out these robberies and we would leave no stone unturned to arrest them soon. Further investigations were on. It was the second such incident in the past one month. Earlier, three armed persons with covered faces had looted the head cashier of the Gurmukh Bharat gas agency at the Gurudwar Satlani Sahib road at Ranike on August 25. They decamped with Rs 1.23 lakh cash from the victim, identified as Balvir Singh.
