AAP candidate's bodyguard opens 'indiscriminate' firing, claims was hallucinating

During medical examination, doctors apprehended that Lakhwinder Singh was schizophrenic. AMRITSAR: A security guard of Aam Aadmi Party 's ( AAP Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll candidate Major General (retired) Suresh Khajuria opened indiscriminate firing near his residence in Pathannkot hours before Khajuria's filing his nomination papers on Thursday.Barring damage to nearby couple of parked vehicles and bullet marks on neighbouring houses, no one was injured in the incident.Pathankot senior superintendent of police Vivek Sheel Soni told TOI that Lakhwinder Singh, resident guard of Khajuria, fired indiscriminately between 4.30am and 4.45am on Thursday.Lakhwinder shot as many as 28 rounds from his Self Loading Rifle (SLR) before being overpowered by other guards. Four vehicles and few nearby houses suffered some damage due to bullets.A relative of Khajuria, Sandeep Dogra, informed that at the time of the incident, Lakhwinder was outside the resident of Khajuria at Victoria Estate on Defense Road and came running towards Khajuria's house while firing.When he was finished with bullets, he put his gun on a table and took his bag and was going back when Khajuria, his driver and couple of more nearby residents caught hold of Lakhwinder.During preliminary questioning, Soni said Lakwinder, a constable of 2nd Commando Battalion, told his interrogators that he had hallucinations, he felt as a group of people had attacked him and also that a den of poisonous snakes had tied his limbs.Pathankot police had registered an FIR against him.
