Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sikh joins movement to protect rights of Khwaja Siras

AMRITSAR: Khalsa Peace and Justice Foundation of Pakistan have extended a helping hand towards marginalized transgender community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province of Pakistan and have begun a movement for restoring their rights. Presently, he said there was no job opportunity of any financial security for transgender who were instead physically and psychologically exploited. Alish was shot more than six times but she was not admitted in hospital as doctors and staff refused to give treatment to a transgender, she spent three days and nights outside hospital before dying , the incident moved me so much that I decided to begin a movement for protection of rights of transgender in KPK" said Tony.Radesh Singh informed that the fun filled recreational tour for transgender had several activities including kite flying, archery, uphill race, tug of war, camel ride etc. "These people constantly live under a threat of being persecuted and the tour helped in relaxing them and reassuring that majority of civil society was with them" he said.Foundation president informed that TCKP was mulling to impart training to become tour guides to transgender.He said he informed transgender community that Sikh guru's considered all humans as one race and all have equal rights and also invited them to visit Gurdwara for Guru's blessings.He informed that Foundation was fighting to get some government support for transgender so they could begin some profession or jobs for a dignified life. "Khwaja Siras (as transgender's are known in Pakistan) are cornered in our society due to coercive mindset, they are rejected and are considered as a disgrace in the society and in past two years over fifty of them have been killed in different incidents, but they are human beings like us so we decided to begin a movement so they could enjoy equal rights in the society" said Foundation's president Radesh Singh Tony while talking to TOI over phone from Peshawar on Wednesday.He informed that Foundation was part of Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's (TCKP) first ever day-long safari train tour which was organized for transgender's from Peshawar to Attock Khurd on Tuesday.He informed that he had made his mind to begin a movement for transgender after the death of a transgender Alisha in 2016."
