Ropar: The Ropar police here have arrested five drug peddlers including a woman for allegedly supplying the drugs. Police have also recovered drugs from all the nabbed persons. Senior Superintendent of Police Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu said that as part of the campaign against the drug peddlers, we have arrested five drug peddlers and registered a case against them under sections of NDPS Act.The police claim to have recovered 15 gm heroin, 125 gm intoxicant powder and 15 kg poppy husk from them. Among the arrested three accused have similar names but they were arrested from different spots and raids.Accused woman Sukhwinder Kaur alias Pabhi and her husband Sukhwinder Singh alias Laddi are nabbed for supplying the drugs. The accused Sukhwinder Singh is already booked under NDPS Act in three separate cases and was a proclaimed offender in a case registered at Chamkaur Sahib police station. The special police team under Sub-Inspector Dharampal have recovered 8 gm heroin from both the accused after searching out their car (PB-12-AD-1900).In another case, police have seized 7 gm heroine from accused Sukhwinder Singh of Chamkaur Sahib while accused Major Singh was nabbed along with 125 gm intoxicant powder in a police raid at his house. A case at Chamkaur Sahib police station was registered against both these accused. Similarly police arrested another Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Doom Kheri village was arrested along with 15 kg poppy husk.
