Seminar on life, philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, November 22A two-day national seminar, ‘Life and Philosophy of Guru Nanak’s Bani: Modern Perspective’, was organised by the Department of Guru Nanak Studies of Guru Nanak Dev University here. In his inaugural address, he said modern society had to take guidance from the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev. Prof Jagbir Singh emphasised on the fact that Guru Nanak Dev himself saw and experienced all aspects of human life. Seminar coordinator Dr Manvinder Singh, while conducting the forum, gave information about the topics of research papers received for the seminar. Participants from Punjabi University, Patiala; Panjab University, Chandigarh; Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib and various educational institutions such as Shaheed Missionary College, Amritsar; Nishna Shikhi Khadoor Sahib attended the seminar.

Dr Kamaljit Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs, inaugurated the seminar. In his inaugural address, he said modern society had to take guidance from the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev. Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti attended the seminar as a special guest. In his keynote address, Prof Harpal Singh Pannu said the founder of the Sikhism teaches that entire universe is holy where true assets are unity with all. Prof Jagbir Singh emphasised on the fact that Guru Nanak Dev himself saw and experienced all aspects of human life. Prof Amarjit Singh, HoD, briefed the audience on the topic of the seminar. Seminar coordinator Dr Manvinder Singh, while conducting the forum, gave information about the topics of research papers received for the seminar. A total of 70 research papers were presented in the seminar. Participants from Punjabi University, Patiala; Panjab University, Chandigarh; Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib and various educational institutions such as Shaheed Missionary College, Amritsar; Nishna Shikhi Khadoor Sahib attended the seminar.
