Edu institutes asked to make premises available for exams

Taking cognizance of this issue, all the concerned authorities have been informed accordingly.The GR states that the educational institutes refusing to avail their premises for the examination, would face action. A senior officer said, The GR is aimed at bringing a check on the non-aided, private institutes that often refuse to share their premises for the examination centre by citing one or the other reason. At times, it also conducts examination for recruitment of class III and IV grade staff for government offices.So, as to accommodate a high number of candidates, MPSC acquires schools and colleges as examination centres. The commission, irrespective of the location of the aided institutes, has to opt for them when the centrally located private institutes refuse to budge.The GR reads that each year, the commission through district collectors across the state try to get the examination centres but the non cooperation by some of the institutes takes a direct toll on the process of examination. However, the authorities with the education department clarified that the action would be decided at the government level.An officer said, “By the way of this GR, the educational institutes, especially the schools and junior colleges will have to make their premises available as and when required during public holidays, when Maharashtra Public Service Commission usually holds its exams.No school in the state would be able to refuse to share their premises for examination centre.

Aurangabad: The school education and sports department has asked the director of education for primary as well as high schools across the state to provide their respective schools as and when needed for utilising them as examination centres for the exams conducted by the state as well as union government.Through a GR, the commission is hopeful to ease the process of getting required number of examination centres across the state.Over 10 lakh candidates appear for examinations for recruitment in class I and class II officers in government services every year.
