American states’ government representative to interact with local industry

International companies employ more than 1,15,000 South Carolinians, around 7.6% of South Carolina’s private industry employment.South Carolina has a strong cluster in automotive, engineering and manufacturing and textiles. Aurangabad: Chamber of Marathwada Industry and Agriculture (CMIA) has facilitated an interaction between Karan Gupta, director of South Carolina’s department of commerce with industry representatives at 4pm on Tuesday. The meeting will be held at CMIA office at MIDC Railway Station.During the director’s visit he will be meeting Indian companies, who have plans to expand to USA. CMIA informed that the state has several factors supporting the ease of business including its east coast location, deep water port, low utility charges, lowest private sector unionisation rate (1.3%), low state corporate tax rate (5%) and comprehensive worker training for job creators at minimal or no cost. The team will make a presentation on the support mechanism available to foreign companies looking to set up in South Carolina.The interaction will be useful to industries who want to expand in USA market by way of opening plant or marketing office in the American state.Gupta along with the other delegates from South Carolina will interact with the participants during the meeting.More than 1,200 operations of foreign-affiliated companies from 40 countries are in South Carolina.
