Shiv Sainiks detained for taking out rally sans nod

A Shiv Sena and an MIM corporator have been arrested for their alleged role in the violence. Aurangabad: The Aurangabad city police on Saturday detained nearly 2,500 Shiv Sena workers after they participated in a rally, which had been refused permission.Shiv Sena had announced a Hindu Shakti Pradarshan rally against the city police and the home department. The police have seized video recordings of the riot and violence to help their investigations. Two people, including a teen, died in the violence that erupted in the city. It covered a distance of just a couple of hundred metres, before they were diverted towards Saraswati Bhuvan's ground.The police have not yet initiated any legal action against the suspects, who were detained for violating section 144 of CrPC.

Aurangabad: The Aurangabad city police on Saturday detained nearly 2,500 Shiv Sena workers after they participated in a rally, which had been refused permission.Shiv Sena had announced a Hindu Shakti Pradarshan rally against the city police and the home department. The police had denied permission for the rally and said that they would initiate action against those violating section 144 of the criminal procedure code (CrPC).Sena had announced that irrespective of the outcome, it would take out the rally from Paithan Gate area and walk all the way to divisional commissionorate.Approximately 2,500 people had gathered at Paithan Gate before Shiv Sena MP Chandrakant Khaire and other leaders, including Ambadas Danve, led the rally. It covered a distance of just a couple of hundred metres, before they were diverted towards Saraswati Bhuvan's ground.The police have not yet initiated any legal action against the suspects, who were detained for violating section 144 of CrPC. However, all the participants were released after a while.A police officer part of the bandobast on Saturday, said, “We should have booked the participants of the rally for unlawful assembly under section 188 of CrPC and also some sections of IPC could have been slapped on them. But we have not registered any offence yet.”Senior police officers, including deputy commissioner of police Vinayak Dhakne, could not be reached for their comments on the issue.A notice had been issued to Sena leader and former MP Pradeep Jaiswal regarding the rally on Friday. He had been informed about the denial of permission for the rally and instructed not to take any steps that would disturb the law and order in the city.Shiv Sena leaders have been blaming the city police for their alleged failure to control the riot that erupted last week. Two people, including a teen, died in the violence that erupted in the city. The teen had allegedly died due to the injury sustained in police firing, when plastic bullets were shot to control the mob.Days later, the police were caught on camera walking with the rioters. A Shiv Sena and an MIM corporator have been arrested for their alleged role in the violence. The police have seized video recordings of the riot and violence to help their investigations.
