AURANGABAD: A 45-year-old man died after he fell into an uncovered drain, which was submerged in rainwater, in Jaibhavani Nagar here on Tuesday night.The incident took place when the deceased — identified as Bhagwan More — had stepped out of his house in the rain to buy milk. More was from Hingoli district and worked as a daily labourer. Chief fire officer R K Sure said he received a call about the incident at 11.50pm following which rescue staff rushed to the spot.“The area was inundated and our staffers searched for the missing man for over than three-and-a-half hours. The milk bag carried by More was found nearby, confirming that he must have been washed away. We searched in a 500 -metre radius, but could not find him,” he said.The fire brigade called off their search by 3.30am on Wednesday and got a call in morning by 8 from local residents about a body being found. “More’s body was found lodged in the iron grill of a manhole. Our staffers recovered the body,” said Sure.The incident had sparked angry reactions from Jaibhavani Nagar and the nearby areas which face several problems during the monsoon. All uncovered parts of the drainage system would be covered within no time,” said Ghodele.
