Govt pleaders set up data centre, web portal

AURANGABAD: The government pleaders at the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay high court have formed a data centre, making the judicial process here swift , cost-efficient and paperless.The government pleaders claimed that it was first such centre to be set up in the country. It would not only save public money but also several manhours each year,” said a lawyer.Girase said they got inspiration from Supreme Court judge Aja Khanvilkar to set up the data centre An officer from the city police commissionerate will be able to see and go through petitions only related to them.“Using the data centre, different government departments can present their say on the very first hearing of the case. Before being uploaded on the portal, it will be emailed to the department concerned. The department can download the petition through secured web portal or email using the unique login id given to them,” said officials.A lawyer said that security modules to define terms of access for different departments are in place.

They have availed an Union government scheme meant for promoting innovative ideas to set up the centre.A web portal has also been developed to keep each government department updated with day-to-day happenings in their cases.Government pleader Amarjeetsingh Girase said, “We are glad that we could take this initiative. It will speed up the justice delivery system and also be cost-efficient and environment-friendly.”The GP office has independent state-of-the-art infrastructure comprising a modern server room, allied storage system, backup system, security system and dedicated software.Assistant GP Swapnil Joshi said lack of staff, delayed serving of notices and summons and traditional methods of communications would take weeks for instructions to reach the departments concerned. These would lead to adjournments.Joshi said that lack of instructions from the department on the first hearing would end up benefiting the petitioner bag interim relief.“Through the data centre, soon after receiving the petition, it would be given a unique number and scanned. Before being uploaded on the portal, it will be emailed to the department concerned. The department can download the petition through secured web portal or email using the unique login id given to them,” said officials.A lawyer said that security modules to define terms of access for different departments are in place.
