The shortfall is of just 15 million litres, then why there is a gap of three to five days in supply? If not on alternate days, at least every third day water should be supplied, he had said. Aurangabad: The two-day-old agitation by MIM corporators against unequal water supply and waste crisis in zone 3 of the city was called off on Tuesday evening following assurances from the municipal commissioner, mayor and the standing committee chairman on solution of the issues. The corporators had camped in front of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation office from Monday morning, protesting against the low frequency water supply in around 20 wards of the old city, which are provided water from the Shahgunj overhead tank. These wards receive water once in five or six days. This causes huge inconvenience to the local residents.Subsequently, the public representatives demanded the municipal authorities to increase the frequency of water supply to at least once in three days and provide equal water to all the wards of the city. The municipal authorities who visited the agitators on Tuesday said that supplying water to all wards after a gap of two days is practically impossible but the frequency at the 16 severely affected wards can be increased to once in four days.MIM corporator Naser Siddiqui said the promise by the civic authorities was good enough and which is why the protestors decided to call off the agitation. The corporators have also demanded the AMC to lift the 4,000 tonnes of garbage accumulated at zone 3.The municipal commissioner and the mayor said that the dumping spot at Central Naka will not receive any more garbage. The existing waste will be treated by the Nasik agency for two weeks, after which it will be shifted to another location, they said.On Monday, corporator Naser Siddiqui said that against a requirement of 250MLD water the city gets 235MLD.
