Aurangabad: The residents of Rajiv Nagar area on Thursday stormed the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) headquarters on Thursday demanding civic facilities such as drinking water supply, lifting of garbage, gardens, and better roads.Mayor Nandkumar Ghodele, after meeting the agitating residents, promised to survey the area on Friday along with seven municipal officials and some corporators for the provision of the civic amenities.Incidentally, the Rajiv Nagar falls in ward 6 of the municipal corporation and has 500-600 inhabitants. They, have however, failed to take any concrete measures,” Khillare said. The houses are constructed after plotting of a farm land.

As there are no ownership documents available with the residents, the area has been left out from any of the utilities provided by the AMC.DV Khillare is the leader of Akhil Bhartiya Samata Sainik Dal, which provides financial assistance to 120 women in the area for engaging in entrepreneurial activists of self-help group.Khillare said that the area does not have drinking water supply, electricity connection, drainage line, roads or sanitation facilities. “The residents have been denied the right to dignified living by the AMC under whose jurisdiction the area falls. Though funds were made available for the residents to build toilet but in absence of water and drainage, the toilets are of no use.The residents have brought the attention of the AMC officials several times to their problems after which they have received written assurances on the resolution of their issues but nothing happens on ground, the agitators alleged.“I had personally taken two-three municipal commissioners to show the condition and lack of civic facilities in in the area and they had promised to address the issue. They, have however, failed to take any concrete measures,” Khillare said.
