Prof booked for using fake docus to bag job at WALMI

Aurangabad: A professor hailing from Pune has been booked on the charges of submitting forged documents while bagging a job with the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) here in February 2014.As per the complaint lodged by WALMI’s acting superintendent, Pramod Mande, the suspect even submitted a false experience certificate for the post of professor.The complainant said that by sumbitting forged and bogus documents, the professor has cheated WALMI as well as the government.The Satara police registered a case under IPC sections 420 (cheating and dishonesty), 463 (forgery), 464 (making a false document), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) has been registered with .Investigation officer and PSI Chetan Ogle said that the offence has been registered and the investigation is under way.According to sources, the WALMI officials had discovered the discrepency in the accused’s documents earlier in 2017. However, the earstwhile director Haribhau Kanchan Gosavi and deputy director Rajendra Baburao Khsirsagar allegedly sought Rs 10-lakh bribe from the accused to cover up the matter.Perturbed by the frequent harassment and demand for money, the professor reached out to the ACB and lodged a complaint, following which a trap was laid and two super-class one officers were arrested.The ACB had stashed bundles of dummy notes to the tune of Rs 9 lakh and layered them with original currency notes to the tune of Rs 1 lakh.WALMI had recruited 14 people in its teaching faculty in 2014, following which a writ petition was filed with the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay high court, citing a series of documents obtained through RTI against the appointment of the professor.On October 5, 2017, the HC opined that the petitioner, not being an aggrieved party, does not have any locus standi and so he cannot take any objection regarding the said appointment, following which the petition was withdrawn.
