Aurangabad: With two consecutive days of rain in parts of the catchment areas and the discharge of water from dams upstream, water level in the Jayakwadi major irrigation project rose on Tuesday. The runaway from the catchment area as well as certain discharge from upstream areas was reflected in the swelling of water level in the dam. Both these districts have received good rain in the past few days.Good rain upstream resulted in gradual discharge of water towards Paithan by Tuesday. Water Resources Department officials said inflows from Nandur-Madhameshwar Weir (29,500 cusec), Nagamthan River Gauging Station (13,520), Darna Dam (10,600 cusec) and Gangapur dam (9,300) were reported towards Jayakwadi Dam by 6 pm on Tuesday.Authorities at the Flood Control Cell of Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation (GMIDC) said a considerable discharge from upstream could reach Jayakwadi Dam by late Tuesday.
