AMC’s garbage truck attacked at Padegaon

It was on Tuesday, the civic body started dumping the garbage at its Padegaon-based land.When contacted, mayor Nandkumar Ghodele said, “We have convinced the residents of Padegaon following which we started dumping of garbage on civic body owned land. In this incident, the truck driver managed to escape with minor injuries, while the windshield of the truck was damaged. With recent rainfall, the situation further deteriorated in some parts of the city.As a solution to the problem, the garbage found across the city is being lifted and dumped at a plot in Chikalthana.

The residents also raised slogans against the civic body.Earlier in March this year, the city faced an unprecedented violence when the civic body tried dumping garbage at Aapewadi while passing through the roads of Mitmita area.The violence, followed by alleged use of excess force by the police and failure in handling of the situation, costed the city police chief and civic chief their respective posts.Anticipating that the trouble may escalate and result in to another law and order situation, the Aurangabad city police deployed riot control police apart from deploying heavy police bandobast from the Cantonment police station, the truck went ahead and dumped the garbage that it was carrying.Soon after the matter was brought to the notice of senior police authorities, a convoy was formed by the city police for escorting the garbage trucks. Sources said that with the help of police escorting the garbage carrying vehicles, about 100 trucks of garbage was dumped in Padegaon.Deputy commissioner of police Vinayak Dhakne said, “After the matter was brought to our notice, sufficient police force was provided to the garbage trucks.”The officer added that the police are geared up to handle any untoward incident.Civic body is currently under fire for its failure in tackling the garbage-related issue for about five months.
