Aurangabad: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on Thursday witnessed a strong protest demonstration carried out by ABVP demanding the removal of Controller of Examination (CoE), Digambar Netke, in connection with the printing of degrees of failed students.Hoodwinking the security apparatus of the university, a large number of protesters barged into the examination department and started raising slogans in demanding ouster of CoE. The protesters put a large stone in chair in front of Netke’s cabin, in a symbolic protest to condemn the alleged ill-functioning of the CoE.The recent incident in which examination department of Bamu printed and distributed the degrees of failed students has been at the centre of the controversy. The Vice-chancellor B A Chopade has already feigned ignorance about the procedure followed by the examination department in printing degrees, adding that the CoE was at the helm of affairs being the department head.ABVP leader Abhijit Patil alleged that Netke, who has ‘tainted track record’, must be sacked immediately to protect the university from hitting new lows.“The CoE was removed from the post in past following answer-sheet rewriting scam at Sai Institute of Engineering and Technology. He, however, managed to make comeback somehow and leading university towards the path of destruction,” he said.A senior university official, preferring anonymity, said that an inquiry has been ordered in the matter of printing of degrees. “Once the inquiry report is tabled, we will take action against those involved,” he said.
