City celebrates Independence Day with a myriad of events

Marathwada accounts for 35% of the total saplings planted across the state. Of the top 10 districts leading in the plantation drive, seven districts are in Marathwada,” he said.MSEDCL authorities in Aurangabad carried out a cleanliness drive.Led by superintendent engineer Sanjay Sarag, the employees and staff of the state power utility cleaned 511 transformers and 18 sub-stations located in different areas of the city.A flag-hoisting ceremony marked the celebrations at South Central Railway, Nanded division which was attended by railway officials, staff and their family members.Contingents representing the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF), Civil Defence Organization, National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Green Corps presented the Guard of Honour and the march past.Addressing the main event held at the SCR headquarter, SCR general manager Vinod Kumar Yadav said the zone remains a proud partner in the Indian Railways mission to serve the nation as a core transport service provider. The ceremony was also marked by eye-catching cultural programmes, presented by students of railway schools and artists among the SCR staff.Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University also had formal celebrations to mark the 72nd Independence Day in the presence of teaching and non-teaching staff.A special march past by students of Chate School was one of the major highlights of the celebrations. Students delivered speeches expressing their sentiment and aspirations for the country.
