Aurangabad: The upcoming public garden in Gulmohar Colony (ward 65) of Cidco N-5 is likely to be ready by Diwali as the construction work is going on in full swing.The garden will have a jogging track, swings, yoga square, selfie point and an open gym among other things.Corporator Shivaji Dandge said the garden is being built a a cost of Rs 1.75 crore. “Tenders worth Rs 25 lakh each for jogging track, open gym, underground drainage line and yoga square are released. A fund of Rs 55 lakh will be provided by the state government under the AMRUT scheme for plantation of trees at the place.”Dandge, who calls the garded a dream project for the ward, said children in the area are deprived of open space to play. Besides, senior citizens are forced use roads for their morning and evening walks, leading to accidents, he said.“The work on the jogging track is almost complete. The garden would bring people residing in different sectors of the ward together and allow them recreational activities,” he said.The garden is being developed on a four-acre area and it will cater to all age groups with various features. The space, in the middle of residential colonies and opposite Sant Tukaram Natyagruh, was lying unused for the several years.The length of the jogging track in the garden is 1km. The garden will have swings for children, space to practice yoga, dedicated space for senior citizens with a seating capacity of 50 people and selfie point for youngsters.The Gulmohar Colony ward has also emerged as a model in solid waste management with the cooperation of sanitation workers and local residents.
