Latest showers help ease monsoon deficit

Jalna recorded 32 mm showers in the last 24 hours, Pabrhani reported 52 mm rainfall.Latur district, which recorded 96% expected showers, received 28mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. Beed district which reported 28 mm showers in the last 24 hours, so far has recorded 77% of expected showers.Osmanabad district reported 22 mm showers in the last 24 hours, taking the percentage of expected rainfall to 82%. Both Jalna and Parbhani districts have recorded 93% expected showers. Nanded and Hingoil recorded a surplus of 116% and 108% of expected rainfall respectively.The region as a whole comprising eight districts has received an average of 454 mm rainfall till date, which accounts for 95% of expected showers. Aurangabad: The latest bout of heavy rainfall in parts of Marathwada has increased the amount of expected showers in the region to nearly 95%, overcoming the earlier deficit.The city and many parts of Aurangabad district also reported showers, helping the district as a whole to improve the total rainfall tally since June 1 to 325 mm.

It accounts for nearly 79% of expected showers.The met department has predicted moderate rainfall for the next 24 hours, raising the possibility of further reduction in rainfall deficit for the district.Aurangabad taluka limits reported 21 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, whereas talukas such as Soygaon (57mm), Sillod (45mm) and Kannad (44mm) registered considerable rainfall. A revenue circle each from Phulambri, Soygaon and Kannad also recorded heavy showers (more than 65 mm).While Aurangabad was the lowest in rainfall tally, the latest showers have helped it move to the second place from the bottom, with Beed district now being last.
