AURANGABAD: A 30-year old man committed suicide by hanging himself after allegedly murdering his wife and two daughters, aged 5 and 6, at Pimpri village in Phulambri tehsil in the district in the early hours of Friday.The man, Krushna Devre, was found hanging from the ceiling with a rope while the bodies of his wife, Shivkanya, and daughters Sarvada and Indvi were found on the bed. Police said Devre is the son of the village’s peace committee chief.When Devre’s father wondered why the family had not come out of their room in the morning, he went there and found a note on the door which read that the police should be informed before opening the door. The father peeped through the cracks in the door to see his son hanging.The exact reason for Devre to take the extreme step is not known but a preliminary probe has revealed that there were increasing differences between him and his wife.Superintendent of police Arti Singh went to the house and deployed a sniffer dog squad apart from a forensic team to collect evidence. Singh told TOI, “The room where the bodies were found has two doors. Both were locked from inside, which rules out the possibility of an outsider’s role.” She, however,said that the exact cause of the deaths would be ascertained only after the police received the autopsy report.A police officer said the couple married in 2010 and shifted to Aurangabad city. However, differences started cropping up between them following which they shifted back to the village. When matters worsened in 2015, Shivkanya shifted to her parents’ house in Kannad. She had even lodged a police complaint against Devre with the Kannad police.
