Hospital staff detained for molestation

AURANGABAD: The police on Monday detained a 30-year-old employee of the government medical college and hospital here for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old woman patient on September 1. She narrated the incident to her relatives, who approached the hospital authorities.While the hospital management began ascertaining the incident, the woman's relatives approached the Begumpura police. At that time, an unidentified ward boy, aged between 30-35 years, allegedly approached the stretcher on which she was lying and molested her. The woman (30) alleged that she had gone to the area to see a relative, when she found man staring at her constantly. The hospital administration has, however, denied the charge.An unidentified ward boy at the hospital had allegedly molested the patient who was lying on a stretcher in a post-operative care room on September 1.

AURANGABAD: The police on Monday detained a 30-year-old employee of the government medical college and hospital here for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old woman patient on September 1. The hospital administration has, however, denied the charge.An unidentified ward boy at the hospital had allegedly molested the patient who was lying on a stretcher in a post-operative care room on September 1. She had undergone an operation for a kidney ailment, said inspector Rajeshri Ade , in-charge of the Begumpura police.Ade said the complainant was to be shifted to an adjoining room around 4pm. At that time, an unidentified ward boy, aged between 30-35 years, allegedly approached the stretcher on which she was lying and molested her. She narrated the incident to her relatives, who approached the hospital authorities.While the hospital management began ascertaining the incident, the woman's relatives approached the Begumpura police. The police have detained a man, who is associated with the hospital and matched the description given by the complainant, on Monday for questioning, said inspector Ade.However, hospital superintendent Bharat Sonwane has defended the management. "We also inquired into the matter and found that the complaint was baseless. The patient was still under anaesthesia when she was taken to the adjoining room," he said.Sonwane said a patient under anaesthesia usually gets hallucinations and may also feel that someone was or might be causing them hurt. "The patients mother, who often visits the hospital, had earlier levelled different allegations against the staff and would complain about not getting attention or medicines. We have already informed the police about these things," Sonwane added.Man booked for staring at woman: In another incident, a 35-year-old man was booked for allegedly staring at a woman in Supari Hanuman Area of the city on Sunday. The woman (30) alleged that she had gone to the area to see a relative, when she found man staring at her constantly. The City Chowk police have booked the man under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code
