600 experts participate in obesity conference

It was conceptualized by childhood & adolescent obesity consultant Priti Phatale, who was appointed as the vice president of the Maharashtra chapter of All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity, during the conference. In another session, the side effects of bariatric surgery were discussed by surgeons Raman Goel and Altmash Shaikh.The social intervention programme was aimed at the prevention and control of childhood obesity. Aurangabad: As many as 637 delegates and faculty from India and abroad participated in the 13th All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity Conference (AIAAROCON) 2018 between September 7 and 9.The conference concluded on Sunday after three days of lectures, paper and poster presentations, and the interaction of around 40 school principals with their faculty on shouldering the responsibility of children’s health.“One of the sessions on the last day was on the topic ‘obesity and women health’ during which key points such as weight loss during pregnancy and nutritional diets were discussed,” organising chairman Hemant Phatale said.Nita Deshpande and Shahla Shaikh presented a symposium on ketogenic diet versus low-calorie diet.
