2 families booked for dowry harassment

Since her husband was working in Delhi, the whole family shifted there.However, soon after the marriage, her in-laws started harassing her. They have booked three people under sections 498A (subjecting her to cruelty) as well as under sections 323, 504, 506 and 34 (common intention). Police said that the women alleged that her in-laws treated her well for some time, but soon started harassing.They even doubted her fidelity. Padar said that no arrests have been made so far.In a separate case, the husband and in-laws from Thane were booked by Jawahar Colony police for allegedly subjecting the woman to cruelty and under other offences. She also alleged her in-laws would beat her up.She said that she finally returned to the city in June and was staying with her brother.

Aurangabad: City police have registered offences against two separate families from Delhi and Thane for allegedly harassing housewives who hail from the city.A 24-year-old woman approached Satara police on Wednesday evening, alleging that her husband and in-laws were harassing her for dowry.Investigating police officer K B Padar said that the woman was married to a man belonging to a family from Paithan taluka on March 1, 2017. Since her husband was working in Delhi, the whole family shifted there.However, soon after the marriage, her in-laws started harassing her. They pestered her under one pretext or the other. She also alleged her in-laws would beat her up.She said that she finally returned to the city in June and was staying with her brother. Since all efforts to convince the in-laws to mend their ways proved futile, she approached the police on Wednesday.The police booked four members of the Delhi based family including the husband and his younger brother under different sections of IPC 498 (enticing or taking away or detaining with criminal intent a married woman), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention). Padar said that no arrests have been made so far.In a separate case, the husband and in-laws from Thane were booked by Jawahar Colony police for allegedly subjecting the woman to cruelty and under other offences. Police said that the women alleged that her in-laws treated her well for some time, but soon started harassing.They even doubted her fidelity. Between 2013 and July 2018 they demanded Rs 5 lakh from her parents. When she failed to meet their demand they drove her out of the house in June. After waiting for two months, she approached the Jawahar Colony police. They have booked three people under sections 498A (subjecting her to cruelty) as well as under sections 323, 504, 506 and 34 (common intention).
