Aurangabad: The crime branch of the city police, investigating the murder of an unidentified person, has nabbed a 32-year-old pickpocket from Partur.The police had found about the body on August 30 when stray dogs were eating it after pulling it out from a shade in Rajnagar area. The suspect has been identified as Ramesh alias Ramya Jadhav, a resident of Rajnagar area of the city, while deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Pandurang Pawar, who was a beggar and hailed from Parbhani.Pawar would stay at Mukundwadi railway station and rarely visited his hometown. The probe has found that the man was reportedly murdered over a month ago. Crime branch inspector Madhukar Sawant informed that the suspect is a pickpocket by profession and operates in the trains.“Jadhav had hired Pawar for picking up the articles which he would steal in the train and throw at specific spots. At times, Ramesh’s wife would also assist him with the same,” he said.Recently, Jadhav stole a bag and as usual expected Pawar to pick it up and keep it at a safe place. But much to his awe, Pawar refused to assist him. Following this, the accused in a fit of rage, drowned Pawar’s head in a water tank.Panicked by his death, Ramesh in an attempt to dispose the body broke up the lock of a tin shade in Rajnagar area and dumped the body there. He also purchased a new lock and locked the shade, before leaving for Partur while his wife went to Mumbai.“After autopsy revealed that the man died of unnatural cause, a murder case was registered on Sunday following which the accused came to be arrested. During preliminary questioning, the accused has confessed of committing the crime,” he added.
