Ramesh Chavan who prepares and sells this modak during the festival shares, “Ukadiche modak are believed to be a sign of purity. These modaks are huge demand during festivals and we prepare more than 250 modaks on daily basis during the festival.

Modak is the trademark sweet of Ganeshotsav and the most favourite sweet of Lord Ganesha and also the most awaited sweet. With time modaks too have undergone makeover right from the traditional ukadiche modak to modaks made of exotic new flavours, the city market has it all. Aurangabadkars try out new flavours of modak, however, the traditional one –ukadiche modak remains fvaourite. Ukadiche modak is the original and a traditional blissful variety of modak. These steamed modaks are made of nine folds or dharis of hand-rolled rice flour and filled with coconut jaggery and flavoured with cardamon. Ramesh Chavan who prepares and sells this modak during the festival shares, “Ukadiche modak are believed to be a sign of purity. These modaks are huge demand during festivals and we prepare more than 250 modaks on daily basis during the festival.
