“Smooth traffic movement is feasible and accessible if Nanded division upto Manmad is connected to Mumbai division of the Central Railway. CLEARED SKHERAurangabad: Railway advocacy group led by activist Gautam Nahata has started special campaign involving public representatives across the state to push for the demand to take Nanded division out of the purview of the South Central Railway.Around 20 MPs, MLAs and MLCs have purportedly extended their support to campaign, the advocacy group has set a target of seeking endorsement of minimum 50 such leaders. Public representatives, cutting across party lines, have extended their support to the movement by writing a letter to the railway ministry and the railway board.“It is high time that public pressure is created to address rail-connectivity related demands of Marathwada by carving out Nanded division from the SCR,” Nahata said.A railway meeting involving MPs from the region is scheduled to take place to discuss issues of Nanded division on September 28 and the campaign aims to garner maximum support before it.Arvind Sawant, Lok Sabha MP from South Mumbai, who is member of sub committee of railway estimate committee of the Centre, has written to the Railway board regarding the demand. Mumbai railway division will be able to have better control to improve efficiency, far better than SCR as the territorial contiguity of the region is to Maharashtra,” he has written.Sawant added that the demand was being pursued by the people and public representatives from the region for past 25 years, but the top brass of railways had never taken serious cognisance of it.BJP MP and state party president Raosaheb Danve has supported the demand saying that Marathwada would get effective connectivity to Mumbai if Nanded division is taken out of purview of SCR.In a letter submitted to Union railway minister Piyush Goyal, local BJP MLA Atul Save and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA Imtiaz Jaleel have highlighted that the resolution in support of attaching Nanded division with the SCR was passed by the state legislature in past.
