Alert issued for heavy rain in parts of Marathwada

Aurangabad: The divisional authorities have sounded a warning for heavy rain in parts of Marathwada, including Aurangabad, during the next 48 hours, following an alert by the Met department.As per the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and weather experts, Jalna, Parbhani and Hingoli along with Aurangabad and Nanded districts are slated to receive heavy rain on Friday and Saturday.Senior officials from the divisional commissionerate said different district-level units of disaster management have been asked to remain alert to deal with any situation arising out of the heavy rain.“The disaster management officials have been asked to be ready and establish immediate communication with affected people in cases of rain-related eventualities,” said the authorities.The authorities have also warned that the villages located on the bank of rivers, nullahs and other water bodies should take necessary precaution in case of flash floods.Director of city-based APJ Abdul Kalam Astro Space and Science Centre, Shriniwas Aundhkar, said, “A cyclonic depression, developed over the Bay of Bengal, would produce rain in parts of Marathwada.
