Ghost teacher in Maharashtra draws Rs 25 lakh over 6 years, 2 held

When she did not receive any further communication from the school, she presumed she had not been selected and subsequently took up a job with the Sillod-based Maulana Mohammed Ali Johar DEd College as an assistant professor. Four other members of the society have been booked.Police said the arrested duo — president Asgari Begum and member Shaikh Shoeb — along with the four members who have been booked forged documents to get the appointment of the female “teacher” approved by the education department. AURANGABAD: The city police on Tuesday arrested the president and a member of the Al-Mubin Education Society here on charges of cheating and forgery in a case in which a non-existent teacher was shown as being on the rolls of the Al Asgari Urdu high school at Qaiser Colony , which is run by the society. The school is fully aided by the government.The whistleblower in the case, Kazi Mohammed Moizuddin, obtained all the relevant documents and took the complaint to the police.As per the complaint, a teacher, Arshiya Begum, had appeared for an interview in the school and had submitted photocopies of all the necessary documents required, including her SSC, HSC, graduation and BEd certificates.

She changed her job in 2013.SI Shyamsundar Vasurkar of the Jinsi police station told TOI, “Members of the education society pasted the photograph of an unknown woman on Begum’s documents collected in 2005 and managed to get an appointment approved.”Police booked the accused under sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471(using a forged document as a genuine one), 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
