In the double-storied house, about a half a dozen family members were fast asleep, when the suspects managed to gain entry into the house by breaking through one of the grills.After the incident came to light, the matter was brought to the notice of the police. Accordingly, finger print experts and a sniffer dog squad were pressed into action to search for the suspects, but in vain.Gherde said that the preliminary investigation suggests that the robbery was the handiwork of professional criminals and the process of ascertaining the presence of the habitual property offenders in the area around the same time is under way. AURANGABAD: Unidentified suspects targeted a house in Shahjapur , falling under the jurisdiction of the MIDC Waluj police station, and fled with articles including Rs 4 lakh of cash as well as gold ornaments weighing over 80 grams.Surprisingly the incident took place while the family was sleeping in the neighbouring bedroom of the two-storeyed building and the incident came to light only after the family members woke up in the morning and found the cupboard in the house broken.This has turned out to be one of the biggest housebreaking offences that has been committed in the area in the past few months, raising questions over the claims of increased patrolling in the area by the police. After the incident came to light, police officers were checking the records of the beat patrolling in the area as to ascertain who was on duty at the time.Based on the complaint lodged by Shaikh Jameel (40), a paan stall owner , the police have registered a case against unidentified suspects and are currently in the process of obtaining CCTV camera footages from in and around the locality to help track down the suspects.Vijay Gherde, assistant inspector of the MIDC Waluj police station, said that the man reached home around 1am on Wednesday after completing his day’s work and went to sleep with his family.
