Aurangabad: Parts of Phulambri and Soygao talukas among other areas in Aurangabad district received brief spells of rain during the 24 hours ended by Tuesday morning. At 20.3 degrees celsius, the minimum temperature in Aurangabad city was above normal by 6 degrees. At 30.4 degree Celsius, maximum temperature was hovering above normal by 1 degree.The revenue circles which recorded rainfall activity included Phulambri (12mm), Aland (20mm) Wadojbazar (7mm) and Pirbawda (6mm) in Phulambri taluka and Soygaon (2mm) and Sawaldabara (40mm) in Soygaon taluka.Director of the APJ Abdul Kalam Astro Space and Science Centre, Shriniwas Aundhkar said on Wednesday that the cyclone Gaja had played a role in bringing unseasonal rainfall in parts of the state and the country. “The current rainfall and overcast conditions are associated with post-landfall of cyclone Gaja. The weather is likely to remain abnormal for at least 24 hours, before return of the winter chill,” he said.As per IMD, the minimum temperature could return to normal range only after a gap of around a week to bring back the winter conditions.“Some rain was expected in the city and in northern parts of central Maharashtra on Tuesday, as a trough had formed over this region and parts of Marathwada.
