First delivery at civil hospital, casualty ward to open soon

Aurangabad: The district civil hospital in Chikalthana, run by the public health department, registered its first delivery on Saturday.On Tuesday, the hospital opened its 40-bed maternity ward to the public and after 4 days the hospital registered the delivery of a baby at 7.40pm. The district civil surgeon took charge of the hospital last November following which all the posts were filled. Sundar Kulkarni, district civil surgeon, said that the hospital will soon begin performing surgeries and C-sections.“The hospital is yet to be registered but we have started the operations in phases on the directives of the district minister. Situated on the Jalna Road, which witnesses large number of road accidents, the hospital is expected to reduce the casualty load of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Gynecologist Trupti Sanap supervised the delivery.The hospital is equipped with 6 labour tables and 2 operation tables.

Badnapur Taluka’s Gangasagar and Parmeshwar Bhalsing became parents to a boy weighing 2.9 kilograms. Gynecologist Trupti Sanap supervised the delivery.The hospital is equipped with 6 labour tables and 2 operation tables. Sundar Kulkarni, district civil surgeon, said that the hospital will soon begin performing surgeries and C-sections.“The hospital is yet to be registered but we have started the operations in phases on the directives of the district minister. We are observing good patient inflow and we will expand our services,” Kulkarni said.Embroiled in controversies, the 200-bed hospital also called mini-GMCH could not become operational for two years after the construction of the building. The district civil surgeon took charge of the hospital last November following which all the posts were filled. The hospital now plans to open its casualty service ward in the next two months.With maximum number of posts filled and 80% infrastructure ready, the hospital began its outpatient (OPD) services earlier this year on June 24, while the inpatient services were initiated on October 11.Around 50,000 patients have been provided OPD services by the hospital while close to 300 people have benefited from the inpatient services.Kulkarni said that the hospital will open its casualty department in two months. Situated on the Jalna Road, which witnesses large number of road accidents, the hospital is expected to reduce the casualty load of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). However, it has not been able to open the casualty ward in want of sufficient medicines.A decision on starting full-fledged operations of the hospital may be taken during the visit of district’s guardian minister and state public health minister Deepak Sawant on Monday.Sawant, who is visiting the district to assess drought conditions, will hold a meeting at the hospital and review the services.
