Female student found dead in hostel, murder suspected

A female student residing in the hostel and the woman rector found her body.Soon, her cousin, Rahul Deshmukh, employed as lecturer with a medical college, was alerted. Police officers said that Akanksha was last seen on the CCTV cameras of the hostel on Monday. It was after the girl informed about she was lying motionless on the floor that the rector reached her room. She was taken to the campus-based hospital, where she was declared brought dead at 10.30 pm. Later, the body was moved to the Government Medical College and Hospital, where an autopsy was performed on Wednesday morning.

Aurangabad: A 22-year-old woman pursuing her post graduation in physiotherapy from a city-based private medical college was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her hostel room on Tuesday night.The Cidco police on Wednesday registered a murder case against unidentified suspects after a post mortem report stated that she had died due to compression of neck. Earlier, it was taken as a suicide case, but after the post mortem report came in, it is being probed as a murder case.The deceased identified as Akanksha Deshmukh, hailing from Majalgaon of Beed district, was spotted lying motionless on the floor of her room on the third floor of the college’s hostel. The doctors reported the cause of death as compression of neck.Her death came to the notice when she failed to report to the roll call twice on Tuesday. The rector then asked another girl student to check on Akanksha. It was after the girl informed about she was lying motionless on the floor that the rector reached her room. The door was unlocked and had a chair behind it to preventing it staying ajar.Deputy commissioner of police Rahul Khade along with other officers visited the hostel, while other officers including Cidco inspector Nirmala Pardeshi and crime inspector Madhukar Sawant carried out spot-panchanama. Officers said that they had noted signs of struggle and scuffle in the room.A mirror was found broken on the floor, while some other articles were also displaced. Police officers said that Akanksha was last seen on the CCTV cameras of the hostel on Monday. Other girl students from the hostel have told the police that she was last spotted at 7.30 am on Tuesday heading for a bath.Officers also said that Akanksha shared the room with two other students, both of whom have been away for the past couple of days.Sources privy to the investigation informed that the deceased had a broken pendant in her hand and the police believe it might belong to the suspect. Police have ruled out the entry of any male member to the third floor of the girls’ hostel, while still maintaining that all the possible angles are being probed in this case.“We have registered a case of murder in this incident. Based on the specific clues, our teams are working on to identify the suspect for zeroing down,” Khade said.
