AURANGABAD: The Nanded-Amritsar-Nanded Sachkhand Express and Nanded-Una-Nanded Express stand cancelled for two days and one day, respectively, next week, spoiling the festive plans for many.In a statement, the South Central Railway (SCR) authorities said the work related to non-interlocking was planned at Faridabad by the Northern Railway.The Nanded-Amritsar Sachkhand Express will not ply for two days from December 20. And the return journey of the train will also be cancelled on December 22 and the next day. Una-Nanded Express will also not ply on December 20 due to the same work. Subsequently, its return journey from Nanded to Una will not take place on December 22.The cancellation of long-distance trains during holiday season has not gone down well with railway activists, who have blamed “poor planning” of services.Railway activist Raj Somani on Saturday said three express trains were similarly diverted on Aurangabad-Mumbai route during Diwali, causing inconvenience to passengers.“People who have booked their tickets in advance during vacation period will be at the receiving end due to poor planning by the railway authorities. Such repeated incidents would led to passengers losing faith in operations of the India Railways,” he said.SCR general manager Vinod Kumar Yadav could not be reached for his comments. A senior SCR official pointed finger towards the Northern Railways for latest disruption of long distance trains during vacations. “We appeal passengers to bear with the inconvenience. Different technical works are aimed at improving the safety, speed and flexibility of train operations,” the official said.Meanwhile, Nizamabad – Pandharpur passenger was partially cancelled between Nizamabad and Parbhani stations on Saturday. Also, Pune – Nizamabad passenger train had to be partially cancelled between Parbhani and Nizamabad stations on Friday. SCR authorities have not given any specific reasons for these two short-terminations.
