Aurangabad: Eleven students of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC)’s primary and secondary school in Naregaon were gifted bicycles by the local corporator during the Republic Day function on Saturday.Vice chairman of the women and child welfare committee and corporator Surekha Sanap in association with NGO Jai Bhagwan Mahasangh sponsored and distributed the bicycles to five students who scored more than 90% in last year’s 10th results and six girls who represented Maharashtra at a national-level dance competition.The school had put up an elaborate cultural programme to mark Republic Day. At the function, Surekha Sanap unfurled the national flag after which group songs and dance performances following a patriotic theme were presented by children of different age groups.Pathan Tabassum Khan, Shah Muzammil Riyaz, Shah Uzma Ahmed, Aafreen Azgar Ali and Sana Kausar Khaja are the meritorious students while Manasi Gaikwad, Shruti Khandala, Pooja Gadhe, Shalini Khandala, Sneha Aarvade and Anjali Bhalekar are from the dance group, who bagged a bicycle each.The students and their parents expressed gratitude to the school and to the sponsors for their support.
