Petty incident results in stone pelting at Cantt, 6 from 2 groups arrested

Aurangabad: The cantonment police have booked half a dozen suspects and arrested them after a quarrel between minors on Saturday, Republic Day, resulted in serious stone pelting in the vicinity of the Cantonment police station.In this incident, three offences have been registered against half a dozen suspects, out of which the first two offences are the FIRs by each group against the other and the third one is the FIR lodged by the police against members of both the parties.In all, three accused from each side have been arrested. They have been identified as Shaikh Altaf, Shaikh Adil and his brother Bilal from one side, all residents of Gawlipura, and Pravin Rajkumar Avsare, Kirtiraj alias Bala Anil Ghodke and Avinash Sudhakar Athavle from the other side, all residents of Shanipura in the Cantonment area.Police said that a complaint was lodged by a 17-year old minor, stating that his school-going younger brother was being assaulted on Saturday morning and when he tried to intervene and save his brother, about eight suspects from the other side came and brutally assaulted him and his younger brother with stones and ended up injuring them.Based on his complaint, the suspects came to be booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections for committing an act endangering the life or personal safety of others, unlawful assembly, rioting and voluntarily causing hurt.Later, the suspects from the other side reached the police station alleging that they have been assaulted by the 17-year old and 20-25 members of his family.
