Woman driven out of house for being infertile

AURANGABAD: A gym trainer, who along with his family members allegedly drove his wife out of the house for being infertile, was booked by the police.The woman (34), who hails from Kalyan in Mubai, was married to the gym trainer from Satara area in 2011.Things were cordial between the couple before her medical conditions surfaced.The woman reached out to the woman complaint redressal branch of the police. Apart from referring to her as 'infertile', she has also been subjected to domestic violence over petty issues in the house.The woman further alleged that while claiming that her father had failed to pay the dowry, her in-laws demanded for a couple of lakhs for starting a fresh gym. When the relations between the woman and her in-laws failed to change for the better even after several rounds of counselling, the matter was referred to the area police station for initiating appropriate legal action based on the complaint lodged by the woman.The complainant stated that her in-laws, including her husband, had been harassing her mentally and physically for the past few years for failing to conceive. "Mental and physical torture reached a new high after failing to bring money from her parents," stated the complaint.Satara area police have booked six members of the family, including three women, on the charges of domestic violence, voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult to provoke a person and cause breach of peace, and criminal intimidation.Investigation officer and assistant sub-inspector S A Chavan said that the suspects have been summoned for recording their statements, following which a call would be taken whether to arrest them or not.
