“A total of 1,484 students are going to be affected due to the clashing of the examination dates, which is a huge number. “Over 3.5 lakh students of Class V will appear for the scholarship examination. We have already postponed their examination once and it is not advisable to do the same again for the sake of 1,484 students,” he said. The mental fatigue is bound to play a role and therefore, the performance of the students could be badly affected. Considering the interests of all these students, the examination schedule must be rejigged,” he said. When contacted, MSCE chairman Dattatreya Jagtap said that the scholarship examination of the 1,484 students in question would be held at their examination centre for the AISSEE.

Aurangabad: Around 1,484 Class V students from different parts of the state, including Marathwada, are in a fix as they will have to appear for both the state scholarship examination and the All India Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE) on February 24.The Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE), which is the competent authority for the conduct of the scholarship examination, has decided to tweak the timing of its test so that aspirants can appear for both the scholarship examination as well as the AISSEE.The affected students, parents and teachers, however, have demanded that the examinations be conducted on separate days in order to avoid overburdening all the stakeholders. The AISSEE, which was to be held on January 6, has been cancelled and postponed at the exam centres of three sainik schools, Sainik School Satara, Sainik School Rewa and Sainik School Sujanpur Tira due to certain administrative reasons. As per the official announcement, the examination will now be conducted on February 24.“It is definitely a burden for children to appear for two crucial examinations on a single day. The mental fatigue is bound to play a role and therefore, the performance of the students could be badly affected. The authorities, therefore, must reconsider their decision to hold both the examinations on the same day,” said the parent of one affected student.Echoing similar concerns, a teacher from a Zilla Parishad (ZP) school in Aurangabad said that students will get less time to give last minute touches to their preparations if the back to back examinations take place as scheduled. “A total of 1,484 students are going to be affected due to the clashing of the examination dates, which is a huge number. Considering the interests of all these students, the examination schedule must be rejigged,” he said. When contacted, MSCE chairman Dattatreya Jagtap said that the scholarship examination of the 1,484 students in question would be held at their examination centre for the AISSEE. “We do not foresee any burden or loss to the students concerned as the syllabus for both the tests is somewhat similar. The students do not have to move out of the examination hall and therefore, there is no question of loss of time and energy,” he said.Jagtap also said that the scholarship examination that was earlier scheduled on February 17 had to be postponed due to the conduct of the Maharashtra Public Service Examination (MPSC) examination. “Over 3.5 lakh students of Class V will appear for the scholarship examination. We have already postponed their examination once and it is not advisable to do the same again for the sake of 1,484 students,” he said.
