20-yr-old man hit by city bus at API corner

Aurangabad: A 20-year-old man was hit by a city bus on Monday at API Corner and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.The victim, Deepak Mhaske, was crossing the road when he was hit by the bus heading towards Chikalthana from Cidco Bus Stand. The patient’s kin then took him to a private hospital for specialised nuerocare. Eyewitnesses said that Mhaske had suddenly come in front of the bus and that led to the accident.In the accident, Mhaske sustained injuries on his head and leg. The police has conducted a panchanama and taken the statement of the driver and conductor. As the bus is new, all the systems were in good condition.

He was immediately taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he was provided initial treatment.GMCH medical superintendent Kailash Zine said that following the CT scan it was revealed that Mhaske had developed haemorrhage in the cranium. The patient’s kin then took him to a private hospital for specialised nuerocare. Zine speculated that he might require neurosurgery. Currently, neurosurgery is not available at the GMCH.When asked, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) divisional controller Prashant Bhusari said he visited the accident spot and the patient at the hospital. The smart city buses of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) are being run by the MSRTC.“The bus was being driven on the second gear and as the victim came suddenly in front of the vehicle, the driver could not put on the brakes. As the bus is new, all the systems were in good condition. The police has conducted a panchanama and taken the statement of the driver and conductor. As part of routine procedure, the driver will be sent for training,” Bhusari said.
