Aurangabad: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has invited applications for choice registration numbers for two-wheelers as part of the new series that will soon be rolled out.“The Aurangabad RTO has been using series MH-20 FF for registration of two-wheelers. The numbers under existing series are about to end and therefore new series MH-20 EZ will start soon. The bidding for the choice numbers has begun with declaration of the new series,” an RTO official said.“Those interested can submit their applications at window number 20 of RTO before 2pm on Friday,” an official release said. The official said an auction would be held if multiple claims are made for the same number.The new series will have numbers between 1 and 9,999. Those seeking choice numbers need to pay the stipulated fee along with a photo identity card and the necessary form.As per the laid down norms, highest fee is charged for allotment of vehicle registration number ‘0001’ for which buyers will have to shell Rs4 lakh and Rs50,000 for four-wheeler and two/three wheeler, respectively.Numbers like 0009, 0099, 0786, 0999 and 9999 too bear high a price tag of Rs2.5 lakh for four-wheelers and Rs20,000 for two/three-wheelers. Choice numbers such as 0111, 0222, 0333, 0444, 0555, 0666, 0777, 0888, 1111, 2222, 3333, 4444, 5555, 6666, 7777 and 8888 are priced at Rs70,000 for four-wheelers and Rs15,000 for two/three wheeler.One more broad category of numbers having attractive permutation and combination of digits also exist for which Rs15,000 are charged towards buyers of four-wheelers and Rs5,000 from two/three wheelers.
