Aurangabad: The top-brass of South Central Railway (SCR) has asked all divisions, including Nanded, to ensure timely pest-control activity in trains.In a review meeting held on Monday, SCR general manager Gajanan Mallya stressed on the need for giving due priority to provide comfort to the passengers.“The general manager has instructed the officials to focus on passenger complaints with respect to pest control in order to offer top-level comfort during the journey. He also pressed for carrying out pest control activity in a time-bound manner,” a SCR official said.As per the laid down guidelines, every train undergoes pest-control to keep away bed-bugs, fleas, spiders, cockroaches and mosquitoes. The pest control activity is carried out fortnightly for AC coaches, while once in a month for non- AC coaches and once in two months for general coaches.The SCR general manager also pressed for giving top priority while addressing passenger complaints, if any, related to linen supply and onboard housekeeping activities.The review meeting that was attended by divisional railway managers also laid emphasis on punctuality of train operations. “The SCR top-brass has asked to give top priority to punctuality along with ensuring safety of train movements. The divisional authorities have been instructed to keep focus on the maintenance of over-head equipment (OHE), signaling equipment, track maintenance and speed restrictions which have been identified as the causes for loss of the punctuality,” CH Rakesh, central public relation officer of SCR, said.While discussing the speed-related issues, the SCR top-brass has instructed officials to take all viable measures to improve the speed of passenger and freight trains. The review meeting also witnessed presentation on e-governance measures and its necessary implementation.
